Combined Federal Campaign kicks off in Navy Region Southwest

Feeling philanthropic? I have a great solution. It's called the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). It's the single largest charitable event in the country and the season is now!

For those not familiar with CFC, this campaign gives government and military personnel an opportunity to make a difference throughout the world. No matter how minute the contribution is, it still  makes a big difference. The amount feasible for the average family is the cost equivalent to a fast food value meal a payday. Everyone can make an impact and all you need to do is provide a needy individual the equivalent of a Big Mac or a Starbucks coffee through your favorite charity.

Last year nationwide, CFC raised $273 million to support non-profit organizations around the world. The money raised went to support charities and improve the quality of life for individuals and families who needed it the most. It provided many benefits in health and human services where the government and many community agencies otherwise would not have been able to fulfill. The number of different places to make a difference is incredible and it's as easy as filing out a form or logging on to their website, http://www.cfcnexus.org/_sandiego/.

This year’s CFC campaign will continue through Dec. 15, so don't hesitate.  Think about how much of a difference you can make. What better time of the year to be in the giving mood?

So as you prepare for the holiday season, and continue throughout your day-to-day duties, think about someone or a family that may be out there or maybe someone that you can sympathize with where you have been in a similar situation. The thought of giving up the cost of a value meal a payday or even $1 a week for a specific amount of time will make more sense once you imagine yourself in that situation. The thought that I would like for all of you to embrace is if you were that person in need, how would you want someone to help you?

Don't hesitate to see your CFC representative and read through the charity book that holds more than 2,500 charities.

I am confident that throughout the region and in San Diego, we will far exceed last years contributions Thank you for giving.
